Adoption Counselor Role

Summary

A New Leash on Life Chicago Adoption Counselor serves as the liaison and advocate for dogs throughout the rescue and adoption process.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Serves as the primary counselor for 1-2 dogs at a time. 

  • Coordinates care of assigned dog(s) in collaboration with fosters and other NLOL team members. 

  • Provides transportation for dogs to and from veterinarian appointments, foster homes, and meet and greets.

  • Responds to all applicants and inquiries on assigned NLOL dogs. 

  • Reviews applications and communicates with potential adopters.        

  • Coordinates placement of NLOL dogs in their new home and provides guidance to adopters.

Requirements and Skills

  • Works well in a team environment.

  • Well-organized. 

  • Must be 21 years of age or older. 

  • Must have access to a dog friendly vehicle.

  • Must be able available for team planning meetings and conference calls.
